Our Story

Our Story

We are a husband and wife team living in Dunedin, New Zealand. Josh is a firefighter and Megan is a stay at home mumma and we run this business in between the joys of busy family life. We have a passion for using and making  natural products. That passion stirred the dream for this business.  The vision behind making our products was our desire to not use toxins on our baby or in our home. We also had the desire to be more environmentally friendly in our day to day lives.

After researching beeswax and other natural ingredients we came to understand how incredibly diverse and naturally good the products are for us. This led us to start our own home-based business. This allows a nice family/ work balance for us as Megan does this business from home.  As our business has grown we have worked to expand our range. Just this year we’ve added teething rings and dummy clips. This new range has been so fun to create and expand on. We are also working on some new exciting ideas for the future.

Our business name Little Roo has special significance to us. When Megan was 23 weeks pregnant with our first child, she went into pre-term labour.  Two days later she gave birth to our tiny daughter, Hannah-Ruth at 24 weeks gestation. For the first few days we couldn’t hold her but as she grew stronger  we would get her out of her incubator, with all of her tubes and monitors and have precious “kangaroo cuddles”. This is where we would lay her on our chest to keep her warm and have precious cuddles. We spent hundreds of hours doing this with her throughout our 97 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). During this time we started referring to her as our ‘Little Roo’ and this birthed the name for our business. Now we have 3 beautiful Little Roo’s.

We are very grateful to the tireless work of the Dunedin NICU; if it weren’t for them and the answer to many prayers we would not have our sweet girl. She is our miracle girl.
